RFID: Radio Frequency Identification: The transmission
of a radio frequency signal in the electromagnetic spectrum. A transceiver reads the radio frequency and information
is sent to a processing device. RFID is sometimes referred
to as "dedicated short range communication" (DSRC).
Tag: Tag or Transponder. A combination of the words
TRANSmit and reSPONDER, it is an integrated circuit
containing data and the circuitry to transmit this data.
Reader or Transceiver: A combination of the words
TRANSmit and reCEIVER, it sends signals back and forth
between the processing device and the transponder. An
antenna will act as a means to transmit this information
between the transceiver and the transponder.
Logistics: Management of inventory. From production,
storage, and distribution, it is the part of the supply chain
process that follows products from the point of origin to
consumption.
Intelligent Systems: This refers to any mechanical system,
which adjusts or learns behavior.
Automation: The investigation, design, development, and
application of methods of rendering processes automatic,
self-moving, or self-controlling
